The Dairy Management contest is an opportunity for youth to demonstrate their knowledge in a practical, hands-on format. The contest will consist of several different stations. Each contestant will attend every station where they will answer multiple questions related to that station. Combined totals from these stations will determine a contestant's final score.
Dairy Industry volunteers will be developing the stations, administering portions of the contest, and grading participants scores. Some stations may require the participant to demonstrate how something is used, or to show a correct way to do a procedure. While much of the contest will be written answers, T/F, or multiple choice, there will also be some hands on questions as well.
There will be 3 divisions: Novice (11 and under), Junior (12-14), and Senior (15-19). Novice participants may join their county Junior team if they prefer. Participants must not have completed any animal science classes at the collegiate level. Each team will consist of 3-4 members. On a 4 person team the lowest score will be dropped. Station 5 will be the tie-breaker.
Everyone can compete as an individual. If you do not have a team we will do our best to put you on one. Teams will be made the day of the contest for those who do not have a county or group team. Please fill out a different entry form for each age group, even if you do not have enough to fill a team.
The contest will be held at BRB Seed Services, within a large warehouse. Weather permitting some stations may be outdoors. Covid guidelines will be followed. Stations will be placed at least 6’ apart with sanitizer at every station. There will be room outside the contest area for social distancing.
